Clear selected PDF metadata before sharing.
A PDF may contain document properties such as an author, title, subject or keywords. Fire PDF can clear selected metadata fields locally, so you can review the document properties before sending a copy.
Clean document properties
- Open your PDF in the web editor.
- Choose Professional → Document info to review the document, or Edit metadata to inspect supported fields.
- Choose Professional → Sanitize metadata. Review the result, then use File → Download PDF to save a cleaned copy.
Undo is available before you leave the editor. Keep the original file until you have checked the saved copy.
Exactly what the web tool changes
The current web tool clears the title, author, subject, keywords and creator fields. It sets the producer to Fire PDF Web and updates the modification date. The result therefore still contains some metadata; it is not a completely anonymous file.
What it does not remove
Metadata cleaning does not redact visible names, addresses, signatures or other page content. It does not promise to remove every XMP entry, attachment, annotation, embedded object or historical trace. If your task requires a full document security review, inspect those elements separately and verify the exported copy with an appropriate PDF inspection tool.
Do not treat a successful metadata-cleaning message as proof that a document is safe to disclose. Keep signed originals separately, because saving a modified PDF can affect digital signature validity.
Your file stays local
Document-property changes run in the browser without uploading your PDF to Fire PDF. Initial loading of the website and libraries needs an internet connection. Read the privacy page for the distinction between document processing and anonymous website usage measurement.
